Winter in Treelodge? That is enjoying the clear, fresh air together, warming hands by the open fire and feeling the cold bite into your cheeks during a blissful walk. That’s also waking up in a silent forest covered in a crisp white layer of hoarfrost. And going to sleep in a blissfully warm treehouse, overlooking the stars and the trees. Is there anything better?
Are you ready for a winter full of peace, adventure, cocooning and cosiness? In this blog, we gathered our 5 favourite winter tips, for a great stay.
Our forest changes every season: the sounds, the trees, the animals that roam there… no two seasons are the same. In winter, it is quiet, and you mainly hear the twigs and frozen leaves crunching under your shoes. Or the soaring blackbird that was looking for a tasty snack. It is quiet there, in our forest. Nature is taking a break, inviting you to slow down too. Just, with a hot cup of tea and a warm blanket on the terrace of your tree house, watching the filtered light and the trees. In the hot tub blissfully doing nothing, gazing into the fire of the Fire Shed or at the campfire pit. Zen, tranquillity.
Children also love this season: When it has rained, the thin layers of ice on the puddles are great toys. They can hide, ride around the fire pit – with their own bikes or on ours – and if they get hungry, you can bake pizza with them. Oh, or try something different and make chimney bread (Kürtőskalács, they call it in Hungary – and it's super delicious with cinnamon and some sugar or with coarse sea salt)! Our tip:Lay out ’s everything ready in the evening for a slow morning ritual. Tea, book, warm jumper. Heavenly!
Winter and the Fire Barn, it doesn't get any better than this. It's dry, warm and atmospheric. Snuggle close to the flames, warm up some soup, make stew over the fire. In the winter, our guests often get together, and that produces beautiful moments. Quite a few friendships have been formed this way, by a crackling wood fire – which then transform into a new annual tradition.
The hot tub in winter is écht something else than in spring or summer. The water is steaming, the air is fresh and clear and sometimes you can see the stars shining through the bare branches. Grab a hot cup of tea or coffee, lay your head back and enjoy. Are you staying in our Chiffchaff? Then near your treehouse there is also a blissful sauna you can rent.
There is also more than enough to do outside our domain!
