A new season, a new blog text. And what a one! There is something magical about winter, isn't there? The fresh wind makes for red noses and blushing cheeks, the silence in the forest is deafening and when you get back to your cosy treehouse after a blissful walk, a steaming hot tub is waiting for you. Admit it, it doesn't get any better than that! And yet… we have gathered some more inspiration below especially for you.
We take you to a fantastic winter day in our forest. Put on warm socks, put on a hat and step outside. Hear the crunch of frozen leaves and branches with every footstep and watch your breath blow clouds in the freezing air. The trees seem to be asleep and their branches are covered in a wafer-thin layer of hoarfrost, shimmering in the morning sun.
Paths plenty here to explore - from which you can deviate or just follow them all the way – both in our forest and nearby. Let the (grand)kids play hide-and-seek while hiking, or tag in one of the clearings you come across. Not feeling like walking? Da’s totally oké! There is also plenty to do in our forest itself, nothing has to be there.
And does the cold creep into your clothes? Then your treehouse beckons, with a stoked fire in the wood-burning stove and a cup of tea or hot chocolate (with a pinch of cinnamon, hmmmm) to warm you back up.
And there's plenty to do to keep you warm.
Take along an empty (egg) box and let children collect treasures: a nice feather, an oak shell to whistle on, a super-slippery pebble. A fun activity én a nice reminder of your stay here together.
The Fire Barn is theé place to come together after your winter adventure. The smell of wood fire, the soft light of the flames… Here, time automatically slows down. Go get some wood, wrap yourself in a thick scarf and trek together to our magical spot. While the fire glows, enjoy a hot cup of soup or a tasty stew. Or homemade pizza – because we have a special oven for that too!
Tales are shared around the fire. Time no longer plays a role. Have a chat with the people staying in another treehouse and make new friends.
Super delicious with a piece of coarse bread – especially for dabbing up the sauce! Oh, or with a baked potato: wrap some large potatoes in foil and place them in the ashes of the fire. After 30 minutes, open the packets and slice open the potatoes. Put some fresh herb butter on top. Super simple, but to lick your thumbs and fingers off.
Your own starry sky? Yes, please! With a cup of steaming tea or maybe even a glass of wine, you sink into the water. You look up and see the stars twinkling between the bare branches, just as if they were shining just for you. Feel the cold air on your face and relax in the hot water. After such’a blissful me-time moment (or a good chat), you'll tell us right away.😉
Are you still not completely warmed up after the hot tub, or do you want to stretch out your wellness moment a bit more? Then just crawl into the sauna for a bit more!
At the end of the year, or at the start of a new one, I like to go over what has passed for myself. The nice things, the not so nice, what I am thankful for and what I would like to do differently. Totally something to do in the hot tub – or discuss together – when the forest is quiet and everyone is asleep. Magical, really!
Winter days at Treelodge invite you to écht time for each other. Away from the hectic, no mails or phones to disturb you. Here it is simply being together: you, your partner, your children, your friends, or maybe family you haven't seen for too long.
What could be cozier than spending an evening sitting around the table together and playing a game together? Or snuggling into the sofa and chatting for hours? You really don't need to make big plans, it's often enough to cook, eat, be together. And if you really want to: a book of cards always does the trick 😉
